Emergency appeal: Gaza and Lebanon

Children are always innocent. Children are not a target. We must protect them. The horror and trauma children are facing in Gaza right now is indescribable and unconscionable. With the terrible escalation of violence, Plan International continues to call on all parties involved for an unconditional, immediate, sustained and complete ceasefire and improved humanitarian access. We also call for the release of all civilian hostages and Palestinian children held as prisoners.

Support our humanitarian work

The ceasefire agreement must be followed up immediately with life-saving assistance

The humanitarian situation in Gaza is dire for 2.1 million people, including more than 1 million children: there are acute and life-threatening shortages of food, water, safe shelter, medical care and other essential goods and services following attacks on civilian infrastructure. Many children have been separated from their families and have nowhere to go, have witnessed extreme violence and are in urgent need of psychological support, or have been seriously injured and require medical care. The ceasefire now allows us, with your help, to massively increase humanitarian assistance to those affected.

Delivering humanitarian aid is an important step towards building a lasting peace in the region.

In Lebanon, we are also helping children and their families who have been affected or displaced by the conflict. According to the Lebanese authorities, more than 1.2 million people have been directly affected or displaced since October 2023 (as of December 2024).

Plan International's emergency response is helping people in Lebanon, Gaza and Jordan.

What is Plan International doing in Gaza and Lebanon?

  • Plan International and its partners are providing comprehensive humanitarian assistance in Gaza, Jordan, Egypt and Lebanon to address the catastrophic situation. Since 7 October, 75,241 people, including 33,962 children, have been reached with life-saving aid including food parcels, hot meals, water, hygiene and menstrual kits, first aid kits, blankets and winter clothing (as of January 2025).
  • Plan International is working for the people of Gaza through its country offices in Egypt and Jordan, as well as with partner organisations in Gaza itself. Partners include the Egyptian Red Crescent, Taawon, Terre des Hommes, Juzoor, Mercy Corps, ActionAid and ADRA.
  • We procure and transport aid across the border from Egypt into Gaza, and support our partners' work on the ground.
  • In Lebanon, our country office provides humanitarian assistance to people who have fled the ongoing conflict between Hezbollah and Israel in southern Lebanon. So far, we have reached around 73,000 people through various humanitarian activities. In particular, people who have been displaced by the fighting in their own country.
  • Plan International Lebanon provides a range of relief items to displaced children and their families, including household items, food and hygiene kits. Further activities are planned in the areas of child protection and education.
